Marketing should not start with a solution. It should start with a problem.
Ollo Caribbean is a marketing advisory firm for Caribbean businesses that need marketing to produce measurable growth, not simply more content, followers or activity.
Six things we believe.
These are not values on a wall. They are the reasons the business is structured the way it is.
Businesses waste money doing the wrong marketing
Not bad marketing, but wrong marketing. Well-executed work aimed at a problem the business did not have.
More activity does not mean more growth
Posting five times a week instead of two changes your workload. It does not necessarily change your revenue.
Every business does not need every channel
Most need two or three, done properly. The pressure to be everywhere is usually coming from someone who sells being everywhere.
Strategy comes before execution
You cannot sequence work you have not diagnosed. Getting the order wrong is expensive in a way that is very hard to see from the inside.
You should not have to become a marketing expert to make good decisions
Owners who delegate marketing cannot easily tell a good pitch from a good strategy. That is not a failing, it is a structural gap, and it is the gap Ollo exists to close.
The specialist should be chosen for the strategy
Hiring a social media manager and then working out what to do with them is backwards, and it is how most marketing budgets in this region get allocated.
The pattern that changed the business.
Ollo Caribbean spent years delivering marketing services to Caribbean SMEs. The work was good. The results were inconsistent, and not for the reasons you would expect.
Businesses were not failing from lack of effort. They were failing from lack of sequence: hiring the right specialists for the wrong priorities, or the wrong specialists altogether. A company would spend nine months on brand refresh work while its enquiries went unanswered for two days at a time. Another would run excellent ads to a website that could not take a booking.
In almost every case the money had already been spent by the time anyone asked whether it was the right thing to spend it on.
So we stopped selling the execution and started selling the decision that comes before it.
The service-delivery agency has been retired deliberately. Ollo Caribbean is an advisory firm now, and that means we are free to tell you the truthful answer, including when the truthful answer is that you do not need to buy anything.
Mellesia Lewis
Mellesia founded Ollo Caribbean in 2019 after a career in financial services advisory, an industry built on a discipline marketing largely lacks: you diagnose a client’s real position before you recommend a single product. Nobody in that world would propose a portfolio without first understanding the liabilities.
That is the discipline she brought across. It is why Ollo starts with a diagnosis instead of a service menu, why the recommendations are sequenced rather than listed, and why the firm is structured so that its advice is not quietly shaped by what it needs to sell this quarter.
She has spent years inside the marketing decisions of Caribbean businesses, which means she has seen how the pitches are constructed, what gets oversold in this market, and what a proposal looks like when it is designed to be signed rather than to work.
Ollo Caribbean is not a new agency wearing an advisor’s title. It is what years of doing the work taught us needed to exist instead.
Three structural differences, not three adjectives.
We do not sell the execution
Because we are not delivering the implementation, we have no reason to recommend it. The advice and the invoice are not connected in a way that could bend one of them.
Every engagement has an end
The Diagnostic is a defined piece of work with a deliverable and a finish line. Nothing rolls over by default. You re-engage because you decided to.
We know this market
Caribbean businesses are not small versions of North American ones. Different lead behaviour, different channel economics, different sales cycles, different budgets. Advice that ignores this is expensive.
Maybe you do not need more marketing.
Maybe you need to understand what is actually wrong. That thought is where every Ollo engagement begins.
